Transparency International just released its 2015 corruption index indicating that Nigeria came 136 out of 167 countries meaning it is the 31st most corrupt country in the world. This chart shows Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) around the world. The CPI index score on a scale from 10 (very clean) to 0 (highly corrupt). 2010 CPI key findings: Denmark, New Zealand and Singapore tie for first place with scores of 9.3. Colombia scored 36 points out of 100 on the 2018 Corruption Perceptions Index reported by Transparency International. Corruption Index in Colombia averaged 34.71 Points from 1995 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 40 Points in 2005 and a record low of 22 Points in 1998. Here, corruption is measured as the share of people who admit having paid bribes in the past 12 months (as per the estimates from the Global Corruption Barometer), and accountability is measured by the Accountability Transparency Index developed by Williams (2015) 9 (this index is constructed from a number of underlying indicators which gather information about the extent of free media, fiscal transparency, and political constraints). The index, which ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption according to experts and businesspeople, uses a scale of 0 to 100, where 0 is highly corrupt and 100 is very clean. This year, the index found that more than two-thirds of countries score below 50, with an average score of 43.

The index cannot capture the individual frustration of this reality, but it does capture the informed views of analysts, businesspeople and experts in countries around the world.
